A Letter to our Extended Community
As a company, we at Zing Bars condemn the murders of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery, Rayshard Brooks, Manuel Ellis and the countless Black Americans who have been victims of racial violence. With the recent mass protests and the engagement of millions of our fellow Americans, we are hopeful that the country is waking up to the problem of racial injustice and police brutality. We support Black equality in America and throughout the world.
Change comes in many forms and as a company, we are committed to an anti-racist culture that celebrates diversity and practices empathy. The practical action of this includes:
- Contributing a percentage of sales to organizations that serve black and minority communities, with a commitment to grow this contribution every year.
- Partnering with affirmative action recruiters for all positions in our hiring.
- Creating a Diversity and Inclusion Council with external members of the black community to monitor our diversity policy and practices.
- Educating ourselves with books like White Fragility by Robin DiAngelo, How to be Antiracist by Ibram Kendi and the documentary 13th by Ava DuVernay, among others.
Throughout, we are resisting the tendency to defend, explain, and bypass, and we are listening and learning about how we can support the long-term needs of black and minority communities.
